What does it take to be a Popcorn Club host? How does doing it for a long time change a person? What do they learn from this job? What lessons about China, career, people, and life in general are take-aways from years of hosting clubs at Popcorn Club? Kizito has been a Popcorn Club host for over three years and tonight, sadly, will be his last club. So let's talk about what he's learned, how he's changed and how those lessons can apply to you in your own journey of growth and to better understand others.
Being a Popcorn Club host is a job like no other. It means creating and executing guided sharings in interactive sessions about topics that provide learning points and discussion and promote discussion to a small group of people who often know little or nothing about the topic at hand. A good host needs to successfully interact in English with people of varying English levels and varying knowledge of the topic at hand. Just imagine how many different aspects of life, both social and professional, those skills can be applied to. It's a challenging job but if you love it and you put yourself into it, it's incredibly rewarding!
Maybe you'd like to be a Popcorn host in the future. Maybe you want to know what it's like for a foreigner to interact deeply with so many locals at a place like Popcorn Club. Maybe you just want to talk to a group of people about the art of interation and mutual learning. Let's have a lovely discussion guided by an intelligent and wonderful human being who's at the end of one journey and the beginning of another.
